Tasks

Labels

Labels group tasks by type or theme so you can filter the board to the work you care about. A label has a name, an optional emoji, and a color.

Labels belong to a team. Every task on that team's board can draw from the same set of labels.

Create a label

Create a label inline from the label picker on a task or from the board filter menu. Type a name, pick a color, and optionally add an emoji, then create the label.

The color palette has nine colors: red, grey, teal, pink, green, yellow, orange, purple, and dark grey. The first color, red, is selected by default. When an agent creates a label through Coldtea's task tools, the color is assigned for it, so agent-created labels still get a color without the agent choosing one.

New teams start with a few seeded labels: Bug, Feature, Maintenance, and Self-driving.

Assign a label

Assign labels wherever a task is shown:

  • On the task detail page, in the Labels section of the properties sidebar.
  • On a board row, using the row's label editor.
  • In the New task modal, using the label picker.

Toggling a label on the picker adds or removes it from the task.

Filter by label

The board filter menu includes label filtering. Select one or more labels to narrow the board to tasks that carry them, and clear the selection to show everything again. You can also create a label straight from the filter menu.

Labels from Linear

If your board imports tasks from Linear, imported labels keep their original color. Coldtea stores label colors as values rather than a fixed set, so a Linear label that uses a color outside the nine-color palette still displays correctly. See Linear for the import.
